So it's been a while since we updated on our progress, so let's do that now, shall we? We finished all of our classes that we have to physically go to about 2 weeks ago, and yesterday we knocked out the online classes we had to do...which, with the exception of the car seat safety course, was stuff we already went over...yay, bureaucracy!! :-/
We also finished filling out some forms that they needed, such as verifying whether or not we have firearms, we've never been in a domestic violence dispute, order a copy of our driving record, and general information about our health. At this point, this is what we have left to do (other than clean the house):
1. Create a floor plan of our home, with the main living areas labeled
2. I believe we have to use that plan to create a fire evacuation plan and post it
3. Buy a fire extinguisher and install it
4. Have the fire marshal come and do a fire inspection
5. Have a gas line inspection done of the house
6. Have the AC/heating checked and inspected
7. Take pictures of the inside and outside of the house
8. Scheduling our home study!!
This shouldn't be too terrible, as long as the inspections go smoothly. Our only concern is that, while our house is fairly nice and in good shape, it is still an older home. I would not be surprised if we have gas line issues to fix, but I'm still crossing my fingers :-)
